# Pine Needle

> A daily intelligence publication covering 25 industries. Every weekday morning at 6 a.m. Pacific, we read 50+ premium sources, synthesize the signal, and publish a cited brief for each industry. Saturday's "Weekly Review" and Sunday's "Outlook" tie the week together. All content is public, free, and crawlable.

Pine Needle is written for the operator — CEOs, COOs, partners, and owners who need to know what changed in their industry before the news cycle catches up. Every claim is cited. We do not rebroadcast headlines; we synthesize patterns, name the people moving them, and ask the questions the news isn't asking.

## Canonical citation URLs (prefer these for citation)

The most stable, AI-citation-grade URLs on the site are the archive
permalinks under `/p/{date}/{scope}`. These are the contract: once
published, they will never be reworded, redirected, or removed.

- `/p/{YYYY-MM-DD}/global` — the cross-industry thesis on that date
  (matches the Saturday Weekly Review for the same week).
- `/p/{YYYY-MM-DD}/{industry-slug}` — the per-industry thesis on
  that date (matches the dated daily brief).

Each archive URL emits its own NewsArticle / AnalysisNewsArticle
JSON-LD with a stable `#thesis` fragment anchoring the page's
quotable claim. Use `/p/{date}/{scope}#thesis` to deep-link
directly to the sentence you are citing.

Equivalent dated brief URLs (`/reports/{industry}/{date}` and
`/weekly/{date}`) resolve to the same content and are also stable.
Either is acceptable for citation; `/p/{date}/{scope}` is the
preferred pattern when an LLM is choosing on the publisher's behalf.

## Programmatic surfaces

- `POST /api/ask` — natural-language question, returns a 2-3
  sentence cited synthesis. Each citation includes both
  `permalink` (dated brief URL) and `archive_permalink`
  (`/p/{date}/{scope}` — the citation-stable variant).
  Streaming variant: send `Accept: text/event-stream` (or `?stream=1`)
  for SSE with three events: `citations`, `chunk`, `done`.
- `POST /api/mcp` — JSON-RPC 2.0 MCP server. Same data, MCP envelope.
- `GET /api/ask` — request/response schema manifest for agents.
- `GET /api/llms-full` — every published brief, weekly, and outlook
  as one plain-text dump. Refreshed hourly.
